Elevating efficiency and collaboration: a medical, legal, regulatory (MLR) transformation

In the ever-evolving landscape of pharmaceuticals, efficiency isn't just a goal – it's a necessity. This is where the MLR Transformation Project shone as a beacon of innovation and progress.

The project, for a large pharma, embarked on a mission to reinvent the commercial material review and approval process, with a bold vision to reduce time and effort by a huge 40%. As the project’s business lead for this transformative journey, the scope included initiatives to streamline end-to-end processes, fostering clarity and accountability every step of the way.

At the heart of the project lay an innovative concept – the implementation of a risk-balanced review framework for commercial material approval globally. This framework not only empowered commercial and medical teams but also optimized approval pathways in PromoMats, the companies material approval system. The project team championed the cause, their expertise and leadership drove the project forward with unwavering determination.

The journey wasn't without its challenges. With markets in Germany and Turkey participating in a pilot program to validate design efforts, the project navigated complexities making incremental enhancements and promoting risk awareness every step of the way.

As the project unfolded, it became clear that collaboration was key. The project partnered with external partners, harnessing diverse talents and perspectives to deliver results that exceeded expectations. Across four key workstreams – project management, organizational change, technical implementation, and training – we as project leads played a pivotal role in steering the project towards success.

The results speak for themselves. With increased volume, speed, and efficiency, the project delivered tangible benefits that transformed the way materials were reviewed and approved across all affiliates. By making reviews more targeted and relevant, this project ensured that existing team members reached their full potential, driving greater value for patients and stakeholders alike.
